At Alok, we are dedicated to uplifting marginalized communities through a variety of impactful programs, focusing on livelihood generation, education, solar energy, community empowerment, and sustainable development.
Livelihood Support and Agricultural Programs
Alok’s livelihood support programs focus on improving agricultural practices and creating sustainable income for small farmers. By providing technical training and establishing Farmer Facilitation Centers, Alok helps farmers increase their productivity and income.
5 Farmer Facilitation Centers established, reaching hundreds of small farmers
Farmers have seen a 20% increase in crop yields due to improved techniques.

Low-Cost Agricultural Techniques:
Alok trains farmers in sustainable and low-cost farming techniques, ensuring that they can grow more with fewer resources.
This includes the promotion of organic farming and water conservation methods.
Farmers Facilitation Centers:
These centers provide farmers with access to technical knowledge, government schemes, and financial support.
They also act as a hub for training and sharing best practices.

Education
The Digital Night School (DNS) program is designed to provide education to drop-out and unregistered children who have been excluded from formal schooling. By leveraging digital technology, Alok has reimagined rural education to ensure that no child is left behind.
Educated over 1,471 children across 18 schools since the program’s inception.
Ensured 100% enrollment of girls in participating villages through the Malala Project.

Interactive Learning:
Students use tablets and iPads to access interactive learning materials through apps like BookSmart.
Subjects taught include math, language, and environmental science, with a special focus on helping children develop basic literacy and numeracy skills.
Inclusivity:
Digital Night School programs are targeted at children who are out of school due to economic or social factors.
Many of these children work during the day or are involved in household chores. DNS allows them to attend school during the evening hours.

Girl Child Focus:
The Malala Project, integrated into Digital Night School, prioritizes the education of girls. Many girls, due to family responsibilities or societal pressures, drop out of school.
The Malala Project works to reintegrate them into education and raise awareness of gender equality.
Village Education Committees (VECs)
They are essential to the success of Alok’s education programs.
These committees, composed of community members, ensure the smooth functioning of Digital Night Schools, track attendance, and provide support for local governance.

Solar Energy Initiatives
In areas where electricity is scarce or unavailable, Alok’s solar energy initiative brings light and hope to communities. Solar home lighting systems not only power homes but also schools, ensuring children can study in the evening.
25+ villages electrified through solar energy, benefiting over 2,251 households. 19 women trained as solar engineers, who have since taken on leadership roles in their communities.

Solar Home Lighting:
Solar systems are installed in homes and schools, providing a clean and sustainable energy source. This initiative has transformed the daily lives of people living in remote, non-electrified villages.
Women Empowerment through Solar Training:
Women from the local community are trained as solar engineers. This training, conducted in partnership with Barefoot College, gives them the skills to install, maintain, and repair solar systems, fostering both economic independence and leadership.

Community Empowerment and Governance
At the heart of Alok’s mission is the empowerment of marginalized communities through education, gender equality, public awareness, and active participation in local governance. We believe that an informed and organized community is essential for sustainable development. Through various initiatives, we ensure that community members, especially women, play a leading role in decision-making and governance.
100+ public awareness programs conducted through puppet shows, street plays, and workshops, reaching over 1,000 community members.
50+ Village Committees formed, ensuring local community participation in educational programs.
50+ gender sensitization workshops conducted, raising awareness about women’s rights, child marriage, and gender equality.

Puppet Shows and Street Plays:
Alok uses creative methods like puppet shows and street plays to raise awareness on critical social issues, including the importance of education, health, sanitation, and gender equality.
These performances are designed to engage communities, particularly in rural areas where literacy levels are low. By using traditional storytelling techniques, we address topics such as child marriage, women’s rights, and access to healthcare.
Women’s Participation:
Women make up 50% of leadership roles in committees, emphasizing gender equality in local governance.
These women play a key role in making decisions related to education, school attendance, and the overall well-being of children in the community.
